Start with one coin

A single coin routine is more impressive than juggling four badly. One coin, one vanish, one reappearance. That's a miracle. Four coins flying around is a juggling act nobody asked for.

Classic palm is everything

The foundation of all coin magic. Practice until natural. You should be able to hold a coin in classic palm, shake someone's hand, pick up a drink, and gesture naturally — all without thinking about it.

French drop first

Your first vanish. Simple, classy, and deadly when done right. The secret isn't the move — it's your eyes. Look at the hand that's supposed to have the coin. They'll follow your gaze.

Use proper coins

Half-dollar size minimum. Too small and your audience can't see what you're doing. English 50p coins work well for practice. American half-dollars are the gold standard for performing.

Retention vanish

After the French drop, this is your next vanish. The coin appears to stay in one hand but secretly drops back. When done right, even magicians get fooled. It's all about timing and naturalness.

Coins across

Once you've got a solid vanish and a good palm, learn coins across. Four coins travel from one hand to the other, one at a time. It's one of the most beautiful routines in all of magic.
