Chris Cross — The Northern Magician
The UK's Largest Used Magic Dealership · High Spen, Newcastle
Chris Cross has performed Magic, Contortion & Escapology worldwide — for celebrities, corporates, VIPs, and royalty. He's not just a performer. He's a keeper of the craft.
When COVID hit, Chris turned his passion for collecting into something the community needed — The Enchanted Rabbit, now the largest used magic dealership in the UK. Based in High Spen, a 15-minute drive from Newcastle city centre, it's become a pilgrimage for magicians, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the globe.
From vintage apparatus to rare collectibles, from the De-Val Magic Collection to his own Exclusive Range — Chris doesn't just sell magic. He preserves it. He finds it good homes. He makes sure history doesn't end up in a skip.
In magic, when a magician dies, a wand is broken at the graveside. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful traditions in the art. The Broken Wand is Magic-Oid's memorial garden — a place where magicians who've passed are still part of the village.
When a magician passes, two things happen. The community mourns. And the family is left with a room full of things they don't understand — props, books, gimmicks, rare items — things that look like junk but might be treasure.
The Broken Wand is here for both.
A memorial in the village
Their name, their story, what they loved about magic. A place people can visit — not a Facebook page that dies with the algorithm.
AI identifies the collection
The family photographs what was left behind. Magic-Oid's AI identifies props, books, gimmicks — tells them what things are and what they're worth. No expertise needed.
Connected to trusted dealers
Not vultures. Not the bloke with a van and £200 for a lifetime's work. Trusted dealers — the ones the community knows buy fairly and treat families with respect.
The collection finds good homes
Their props go to magicians who'll use them. Their books go to people who'll read them. Their legacy lives on in the right hands.
Every community has two kinds of buyers. The ones who show up with a van and £200 for a lifetime's collection. And the ones who know what things are worth, pay properly, and treat the family with dignity.
Chris Cross is the second kind. He's been that person in the magic community for years — the dealer who outbids the vultures, who pays fairly, who makes sure collections go to people who understand what they had. He doesn't just deal in magic. He cares about magic.
That's why The Enchanted Rabbit isn't just a hamlet in the village. It's the Founder Mayor of The Broken Wand — the first trusted dealer at the heart of the memorial garden. The person families will find first, not last.
This is the first memorial hamlet sponsorship in Magic-Oid history. There's no template for this because no one's done it before. Founder Mayor is exactly what it sounds like — the person who builds the village around The Broken Wand.
What you get:
The community sees everything. Your reputation is your currency. And your reputation is already golden.
You run the Up North Magic Convention. We run Magic-Oid — the village where magicians, collectors, and dealers already live online. The crossover isn't a coincidence. It's infrastructure.
Every magician who visits your convention could scan a QR code and land in your hamlet. Every family who needs help with a collection gets connected to you — the trusted dealer, not the vulture. The convention happens once a year. The hamlet is open every day.
Chris,
I'm writing this from Blackpool. The convention's on and I'm here trying to get Magic-Oid in front of as many people as possible. The Broken Wand is the part of this that matters most to me — it's the bit that actually helps people when they need it most.
You already know how it works. When someone dies and the family's left with a room full of stuff they don't understand, you're the person I'd send them to. You're the one who pays properly. You're the one who doesn't show up with a van and an insult. That's not flattery, it's just true, and the community knows it.
I want you to be the first Founder Mayor of The Broken Wand. There's no set price for this — you'd be the first, so you get to name it. Ideally it covers my Blackpool expenses and gives you a permanent, prominent home in the village. Your hamlet. Your reputation. Your customers finding you through the memorial garden instead of through the vultures.
I know you can't make it to Blackpool this year, and I'm sorry about that — it's not the same without you. But your hamlet can be here. QR codes on the table, people scanning and landing on this page. You're at Blackpool whether you're physically here or not.
One more thing — and this is a cheeky ask, but you know me. I don't actually have a ticket or a pass for the convention. If you know anyone who could sort one, I'd be very grateful. I'm here, I'm working, but I'm doing it from the fringes. Any help getting through the door would mean the world.
Whatever you decide, the offer stands. You're the right person for this. The community knows it. I know it.

After that, The Enchanted Rabbit stays in the village with a standard hamlet page and link — because Chris Cross deserves to be here regardless. But the Founder Mayor title, the memorial garden sponsorship, and the "name your price" deal move on to the next trusted dealer in the queue.
First in. Best deal. But not forever.
Name Your Price
This is the first Founder Mayor hamlet in Magic-Oid history. There's no price list because there's no precedent.
Whatever feels right to you. You get Founder Mayor status locked in forever — the rate you set is the rate you keep. No increases. No renegotiation. First in, best deal, permanent.

The Broken Wand is our service to the community.
Memorial pages for families — always our service, never a charge. Dealers like The Enchanted Rabbit fund the infrastructure so families never have to. That's how the village works.
When a collection needs identifying and valuing, these are the tools that do it:
Family uploads photos. AI identifies items. Suggests prices. Generates eBay listings. The vultures lose their advantage because the family knows what things are worth before anyone makes an offer.
Leave a message for Chris. Share a memory. Welcome the Founder Mayor.
Guest book opening soon. For now, visit the village and say hello.
